The Sacred Lawgiver has observed giving wealth to others as charity for the sake of drawing closer to God a commendable act; therefore, giving wealth as charity can be the object of a vow (Arabic:نذر Nazr). However, the preferability of giving all one's property as charity and the validity of a vow to do so have been a matter of dispute. Through library research of reliable Islamic sources and utilizing a descriptive-analytical method of ijtihadi( Islamic juristic/ Islamic legal reasoning) type, the findings indicate that the view of the well-known Imamiyyah jurists is the disliked nature of donating all wealth as charity and the invalidity of making a vow for it. Some others have differentiated between the state of needing wealth and the state of being sufficiency, considering it (the vow to give all wealth) invalid in the former case but valid in the latter. and also, by citing the general principles presented by the Islamic texts prohibiting extravagance and squandering in giving, and the occurrence of harm , hardship and becoming a burden on others, the prohibition of this type of vow is not unlikely.
