One of the most important goals of human creation is worship and servitude, and worship and servitude to God is not possible except through the practice of divine commandments. To compensate for the opposition to these commandments, God Almighty has graciously provided alternatives and penalties to eliminate or mitigate the worldly and hereafter effects of this opposition. The most important example of these alternatives in worshipful commandments is "expiation," which Islamic jurists have discussed in detail in various chapters of jurisprudence such as Hajj and fasting, etc. The present study, using a descriptive and analytical method and with the help of scientific library documents, seeks to discover and analyze the wisdom of legislating expiation for some religious disobediences centered on the Holy Quran. The findings of the study show that in the Holy Quran, expiation has general and specific examples, and numerous secrets are hidden in its legislation. The authors of these lines, by analyzing the Quranic verses, have analyzed the wisdom of atonement into such things as: preserving religion, acquiring piety, attracting benefit and warding off harm, being wise, being grateful and accepting advice, purity and cleanliness, reforming affairs, removing the effects of sin, and deterring from repeated disobedience.
