One of the most important purposes of human creation is worship and servitude, and true worship of God is only possible through compliance with Divine laws and rulings. Out of grace, God the Exalted has provided alternatives and penalties to compensate for violations of these commandments, thereby mitigating or removing the worldly repercussions and the Hereafter’s punishment for such disobedience. The most prominent example of these alternatives in worship-related laws is kaffārah (expiation), which Islamic jurists have extensively discussed in various jurisprudential chapters such as pilgrimage, fasting, and others regarding its limits, conditions, and quantities. However, a systematic study on the wisdom and philosophy behind the legislation of kaffārah from the Quranic perspective, which constitutes the aim of this research, has not yet been undertaken. Therefore, this study, using a descriptive-analytical approach and relying on scholarly library sources, attempts to uncover and analyze the wisdom behind the prescription of kaffārah for certain religious disobediences, including neglecting obligatory acts or committing forbidden deeds, with particular focus on the Holy Quran. The findings reveal that kaffārah in the Quran has both general and specific instances, encompassing numerous profound secrets in its legislation. The authors, by examining Quranic verses, have analyzed the wisdom of kaffārah in terms of preserving religion, attaining piety, gaining benefit and warding off harm, rationality, gratitude and heeding advice, purification and cleanliness, reforming affairs, eradicating the effects of sin, and deterring repeated disobedience. These cases have been identified and supported through Quranic evidences
