This research aims to extract and explain the practical model of approximative jurisprudence in the domain of acts of worship (ʿIbādāt) from the perspective of Ayatollah Mohammad Vaez-Zadeh Khorasani. Using a descriptive-analytical method based on library research and content analysis of his works, this article seeks to answer the fundamental question: What is Ayatollah Vaez-Zadeh's model and method for managing and bringing rapprochement to jurisprudential differences between Islamic schools of thought (Madhāhib) in the areas of prayer (Ṣalāt) and fasting (Ṣawm)? The findings indicate that his method is founded upon four methodological principles: 1) distinguishing between essential and subsidiary disagreements, 2) prioritizing the interest of the unity of the Ummah over minor differences, 3) returning to commonalities and the objectives of Islamic law (Maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah), and 4) utilizing custom (ʿUrf) and the established practice of rational people. The application of these principles to cases such as the permissibility of praying behind Sunnis, accepting their testimony (Shahādah) in proving the crescent moon (Hilāl), and unity in declaring the time for breaking the fast and the rites of Hajj demonstrates that his threefold method—reducing sensitivity, emphasizing commonalities, and offering flexible jurisprudential interpretations—provides a practical model for rapprochement in the most sensitive domains of worship.
